All changes described here are available once the reusable_content_new_ui feature flag is enabled for your account.
This article covers a set of updates that improve how admins and email builders identify, organize, and manage Reusable Content (RC) modules across Studio.
What is it and why is it important?
Managing Reusable Content at scale was difficult. Before these updates:
Admins had no visual way to distinguish RC modules from regular modules in the module list
There was no way to filter, bulk-select, or bulk-delete RC modules — teams had to delete them one by one or escalate to Stensul support
Email builders couldn't tell which modules in the library panel were Reusable Content
Library folders were always expanded by default, forcing users to scroll through hundreds of modules to reach the right folder
Clicking Edit on an RC module from the admin module list silently converted it into a regular editable module, creating a risk of accidentally modifying source content shared across emails
These updates solve all of those problems. Admins can now identify, filter, and bulk-delete RC modules without Stensul support involvement. Email builders see a clear RC label in the library panel. Folders are collapsible and smarter to organize. And editing RC modules is now protected by a required duplication step.
What permissions are needed?
No new permissions are required. These features are available to users with existing library and module admin access.
All changes are gated behind the reusable_content_new_ui feature flag. Contact your Stensul administrator to enable it for your account.
How does it work and what can it do?
1. Reusable Content identification in the Email Builder modules list
When building an email, the module list now makes it easy to find and recognize Reusable Content:
A "Show reusable content" checkbox lets you toggle RC modules in and out of the view
When you search the modules list, RC modules matching your query are always included in results automatically, regardless of the checkbox state
This means your default panel view stays clean, and you can surface RC content on demand or via search.
2. Reusable Content identification in the Admin module list
In the admin module list (Studio → Modules), RC modules are now clearly labeled:
Use these together with the filters below to quickly scope the list before taking bulk actions.
3. Filters in the Admin module list
Two new filters are available in the module list toolbar:
Filter | Options |
Status | Draft, Published |
Library | All libraries configured for your account |
Filters can be combined with each other, with the "show only reusable content" toggle, and with keyword search. This lets you build a precise scope — for example: Published RC modules in the Holiday library — before applying bulk actions.
4. Bulk delete in the Admin module list
You can now select and delete multiple modules at once:
Use filters and the Reusable Content toggle to narrow the list to the modules you want to remove
Check the box on each module row to select it, or use Select all visible to select the entire filtered list
Click Delete — selected modules are sent to trash and are recoverable for 30 days
For more information on how module deletion and trash recovery work, see Studio: Modules.
5. Duplicate-to-edit protection for Reusable Content
Clicking Edit on an RC module in the admin module list no longer opens the builder directly. Instead, a dialog explains that Reusable Content cannot be edited directly and must be duplicated first.
Why this matters: RC modules are shared source content. Previously, entering edit mode from the admin list silently turned the module into a regular editable module for that session — users could save changes that would affect every email using that RC module without realizing it.
How to edit an RC module:
In the admin module list, click Edit on an RC module
A dialog appears explaining the duplicate-to-edit requirement
Click Duplicate — a copy of the module is created as a regular (non-RC) module
You are taken into the builder to edit the duplicate freely
The original RC module remains unchanged. The duplicate is not marked as Reusable Content.
Note: This block applies to the admin module list only. RC modules can still be edited from within the email builder.
6. Library folder improvements
The library module menu in Studio now behaves as follows:
Folders are collapsed by default — click a folder to expand it. This keeps large libraries navigable without scrolling through all content at once.
Drag over a collapsed folder to auto-expand it — when moving a module, drag it over a closed folder and it opens automatically so you can drop inside without losing your place in the list.
New modules are placed in the active folder — when you add a new module while your editing context is inside a folder, the module is placed in that same folder. You no longer need to drag it from the bottom of the list back into position.
Empty folders can be saved — create and save folders before any content exists in them. Use this to pre-build a folder structure and populate it as modules are saved.
