Pardot - Landing Page Export

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Salesforce Pardot is a marketing automation solution that helps companies create meaningful connections, generate more pipeline, and empower sales to close more deals. Salesforce renamed Pardot to “Marketing Cloud Account Engagement in April 2022.

About this Integration

After creating a landing page in Stensul, users can upload the landing page’s HTML to Pardot and create a new landing page asset in Pardot. To use this integration, a user needs to have an existing Pardot account. Landing pages from Stensul are sent to defined folders within Pardot.

This feature also requires your Stensul account to have the Landing Page product add-on.

Setup in Pardot

Stensul’s Pardot integration supports OAuth 2.0 authentication.

Learn more about the set up process here.

API Limitations

The Pardot API has daily request limits that vary by Account type ranging from 50,000 to 100,000 requests per day. The Stensul integration may consume an estimated 5-20 API requests per content send.

API request usage per content send depends on how the integration is set up and how it is used the integration. Any time Stensul needs to request or send information to Pardot, it requires an API request. For example, if you select and set the destination folder in the integration upload modal each time that you send a piece of content. It will use more requests than if you have a fixed, preset destination folder.

To learn more about how API request limitations for your Pardot instance, please contact your Pardot customer success manager.

Setup in Stensul

Before getting started

  • Ensure you have the correct permissions to access the integration. If not they must be added to your roles.

  • Gather all the required credentials from your Pardot instance.

Permissions Required

To access the Pardot integration in either Admin or landing page Builder, certain permissions must be added to your roles.

Permissions

Description

access_integrations

This permission enables users to access many integration and ecosystem related features including the Stensul builder’s upload modal and content source modals.

access_admin_integrations

This permission enables users to access the “Integrations” tab within the “Admin” section of the platform. This in turn enables users to create new integrations as well as update and delete existing integrations.

Setting up the Integration

Next, navigate to the integrations page in Stensul by going to Admin > Platform Settings > Integrations > Available.

Then, scroll down to the Pardot integration labeled “Pardot“ and select “Connect”.

Here, you can enter the credentials that you created and collected from the setup process above.

  • Client ID

  • Client Secret

  • Business Unit ID

  • Username

  • Password

  • API Endpoint

  • Authentication Endpoint

Once each value is entered, select “Save”

Troubleshooting Authentication Issues

There are 5 values needed to authenticate. The other remaining values of Business Unit ID and API Endpoint are only used after authentication is completed.

  • Client ID and Client Secret: These are the credentials needed to connect to the Pardot API with the customer’s Pardot instance.

  • Username and Password: These are the credentials needed to authenticate the specific user within the customer’s Pardot instance.

  • Authentication URL: This is the URL where the authentication is applied against.

Transferring Values

For the Client ID, Client Secret, Username, and Password it is very important that you copy and paste the values carefully ensuring that there are no additional white spaces in the values.

Enable for Use with Landing Pages

Lastly, at the very bottom of the page, there is a toggle “Use for landing pages“. This toggle is disabled by default, but must be set to enabled, so that the integration will appear in the landing page builders upload modal.

Configuration Options

Next, you need to configure the integration. In the “Installed” tab of the integration page, find your installed integration and select the “Configure” button.

Here, you can set the configurations of your integration. Since this integration can be used for both email upload and landing page upload, the configurations options for landing pages are located at the bottom of the modal under a toggle: Enable Landing Pages

See below for all possible configuration options.

Similar to the email upload integration configurations, the landing page feature supports the same folder and campaign management options.

Upload Behavior

Where does it go?

Once uploaded from Stensul, these landing pages will be accessible from Content > Landing Pages in your Pardot dashboard.

The landing pages can be viewed, modified, and previewed in the Pardot platform UI.

Can I still edit the landing page?

Technically the HTML of an landing page uploaded from Stensul is both accessible and editable in Pardot. However, we recommend making any updates in Stensul and then re-uploading the landing page to Pardot. This is to mitigate creative changes happening outside of the Stensul platform that will not be reflected back in Stensul.

What happens when I make updates and then re-upload the landing page?

The Pardot API for authoring landing pages, does not support the ability to update an existing landing page. Instead you must change the name of the landing page and re-upload the asset. This is specifically a Pardot platform API limitation.
