Updated over 2 weeks ago

Airship is a Marketing Automation Platform for creating personalized customer journeys across channels including mobile apps, web, email, and SMS. They support advance customer insight collection to power these experiences.

About this Integration

After creating an email in Stensul, users can automatically upload the completed email’s HTML and metadata to Airship as an email template. To use this integration, a user needs to have an existing Airship account. Emails from Stensul are sent to the templates section within the configured Airship project. Setup in Airship & Stensul

Feature Activation

Airship: The Stensul integration with Airship is a restricted feature in Airship that must be turned on by your Airship account representative.

Stensul: The integration also leverages a restricted feature in Stensul (email export via webhook) that must be turned on by your Stensul Customer Success Manager.

Integration Setup in 3 Steps!

To set up the integration, there are three key steps that must be completed in order across both your Stensul and Airship accounts.

  1. Generate and retrieve your Stensul webhook secret key

  2. Enter your secret key in Airship and retrieve your Airship webhook URL

  3. Configure your Stensul email export via webhook with your Airship webhook URL

Generate your Stensul Webhook Secret Key

User Permissions

First, ensure that your user has the following admin permission: access_admin_integrations. This permission enables users to access the Integrations tab within the Admin section of the platform. This in turn enables users to create new integrations as well as update and delete existing integrations.

Integration Setup

Next, navigate to the integrations page in Stensul by going to Admin > Platform Settings > Integrations > Available.

Next, scroll down to the integration labeled Email Export via Webhook and select Connect.

A panel will appear and display a field labelled Secret Key. Copy this key and save it a secure location for use in this next step.

Setup & Retrieve Airship Webhook URL

Navigate to your Airship instance and select the project that you would like to integrate with Stensul.

Next, select Settings from the header menu.

In the page that appears, scroll and locate the Partner Integration configuration. You can also use the search bar provided.

Select “Manage“ in the Partner Integration configuration option.

In the page that appears, scroll and locate the Stensul integration. You can also use the search bar provided.

Select the Stensul integration.

In the page that appears, select the Configure button.

A configuration modal will appear. In the field labeled Stensul Secret Key, enter the secret key you created in the previous step (in Stensul). Once entered, select Continue.

The modal will update, and will display a Webhook URL that is unique to your project. Copy this URL and save it a secure location for use in this next step. You may select Finish.

Configure Stensul Webhook for Export to Airship

Return to Stensul, and reopen the Stensul Webhook integration. Enter the webhook URL created in the previous step in the field labeled Webhook URL.

You may also update the field labelled Integration Name so that it clearly indicates that it is for the purpose of supporting an integration between Stensul and the Airship platform.

Using the Integration

When you are ready to send a completed email to Airship, navigate to the top right-hand corner of the page and select Complete.

When the complete button is selected, a modal will appear, however there is no action that needs to be taken in this modal and it can be closed.

Once activated, the webhook feature that is connected to Airship will automatically listen for any emails that are completed and it will automatically send the email to Airship as an email template. There is no special extra action an end user needs to take, other than completing an email via the Complete button in the Email Builder as they normally would.

Accessing your Email Template in Airship

All emails sent from Stensul to Airship will appear in Airship as an email template. To access the email template, navigate to the project that was configured to receive Stensul emails.

Next, select Content and then select Templates.

From the Content Template page, you can find all emails that have been sent to Airship from Stensul.

Syncing Content Updates to Airship

Once an email has been synced with Airship, any future content updates to that specific email in Stensul will be reflected in that specific template in Airship as long as the email is re-completed in Stensul.

To create another version of the email in Airship, you must clone the email in Stensul so that it is a unique asset. Then, you can complete the email and Airship will recognize it as a new email template.
