Settings: Automatic Timeout
Updated over a week ago

The “Automatic Timeout” feature (a.k.a. “Idle Timeout“) enables Stensul admins to set a maximum amount of time a user can be idle in the email builder before they will be automatically returned to the dashboard.

The feature is a useful setting to help reduce the instances where an asset is not accessible in Stensul due to another builder having the asset open on their device but not actually be actively working in the asset.

Enabling the Feature

To enabled the automatic timeout feature, you first need two permissions.

  • access_admin - This permission grants users access to the “Admin” section of the platform

  • access_admin_general_settings - This permission grants users access to the “General Settings“ section of the platform.

With those two permissions, you can navigate to the General Settings section of the platform by selecting Admin > Platform Settings > General.

On the General Settings page, the first feature availalbe is “Automatic Timeout“. The default setting is disabled.

To enable the feature, select the toggle and then select the duration of time that a user can be idle in the email. Available timeout durations include:

  • 15 minutes

  • 30 minutes

  • 1 hour, 2 hours, → 8 hours

The automatic timeout feature is a global setting that will effect all users in your Stensul account across all libraries. This setting can be managed at any time by returning to the “General Settings” page on the “Admin” side of the platform.

Auto-Save Setting Suggestion: Since this feature automatically times out idle users, it is always recommended to use Stensul’s “auto-save” feature in conjunction with this setting to avoid any risk of potentially lost work if an idle user is timed out before their work has been manually saved.
